Get in the habit of asking yourself if something is on the list before you make a purchase.

We come across an item on sale and immediately hit buy now,' she said.

The problem is we dont have time to actually consider the purchase.

The solution, she noted, is to give yourself time.

Or it is going to end up stashed in a closet until you send it off to Goodwill?

She said this will help you get out of that emotional state and check in with yourself.

The holiday experience is about much more than shopping, Hanson said.
