Prenter explained that he isnt going out to purchase the latest iPhone.
Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a new iPhone, hes sticking with his 5-year-old phone.
It has made no difference to my life, except that my bank account is bigger, he said.
New Items
Purchasing new is fun, but it often costs more.
For those who dont use Facebook, alternatives include Craigslist, Nextdoor and OfferUp.

Ive also found that buying frozen vegetables is half the price or less of the fresh produce.
Time and money are saved, which is a win-win.
Buying meat, for example, has become particularly difficult.
While Prenter hasnt cut meat out, hes being strategic in his purchases.
Last week I bought 10 packs of chicken and pork skewers on sale.
Each pack has eight skewers, so thats 80 skewers total!
They were on sale because the use by date was two days away.
But I froze all of them, Prenter said.
They usually sell for $13.97 for a pack, I paid $10.48 each.
So I saved $3.49 per pack, or $34.90 total.
Thankfully, this practice doesnt take much time.
If you find that a purchase doesnt bring value or joy to your life, cut it.
