During the 2024 American presidential campaign cycle, much was made (by voters and politicians alike) about the high increase in grocery prices in the Biden administration, especially egg prices. In the last two months of Biden's presidency alone, egg prices rose 14% alone, per CNN. Further, Donald Trump campaigned on bringing down grocery prices "starting on day one." Instead of that happening, though, Forbes has reported that inflation was higher than expected in January 2025 (in which Trump was president for nearly two weeks) at 3% rather than 2.8%, and that egg prices increased again by a staggering 15%.
